An eight-member Odisha squad today returned home after bagging eight medals in the Subrata Classic Open International Powerlifting, Benchpress & Deadlift Championship, which was organised by Indian Powerlifting Federation at Jamshedpur from December 16 to 21.
The medals included three gold and one silver in powerlifting, one gold in benchpress and three gold in deadlift. According to Odisha Powerlifting Association secretary Chitta Ranjan Swain, Bhuaneswar lifter Pradip Patra pocketed one gold each in 66 kg senior powerlifting and deadlift to be awarded the strongman title.
K Dora and Priyadarshini Bisoi claimed the other two powerlifting gold in senior 83 kg and junior girls 63 kg categories, while the silver was grabbed by Ashok Kumar Prasad in 120 kg masters-1 section. Ramesh Gorada picked up the only benchpress gold in 83 kg masters-1 group.
The other two deadlift yellow metals were secured by BTV Raman Murty and Kartikeswar Jena in 74kg masters-1 and 83kg masters-2 categories respectively.
